We only had what "Bitchin Betty" (Debbie's GPS that yells at us continuously) said was a 4 hour drive to Sea Isle City (SIC) turned into an all day drive. We arrived in SIC about 6 last night. Our first stop was unplanned as we saw this National Park called Harper's Ferry. We stopped because Debbie said you could get your passport stamped in national parks. So off we go but they wanted to charge us $10 to park but then they asked if anyone in the car (really there were only two of us???) were seniors and I got us a "lifetime" pass for $10 that will get us into every national park. Debbie has been laughing ever since that I have a senior pass and she doesn't....I'll get even soon.
We stopped in Elkton, MD to see my nephew and his family then after leaving there we decided to go to "Booth's Corner" which is a market the Amish come and bring thier meats, cheese and baked goods (yum). After jockeying for a parking position we were able to get inside. Debbie had a great time and after we couldn't carry things anymore we headed for the car. I called my mom to see if she wanted hoagies for dinner and we headed to Parkside, PA to Phil and Jim's (Fred and Sam's as Debbie later called it) and we bought Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies and started our trip to SIC. Now I was proud that I was able to find my way from Booth's Corner to Phil and Jim's and now I need to get us to the Commodore Barry bridge to NJ. After following Betty's instructions who got us stuck in a no outlet very scary part of town, I turned Betty off and set to trying to remember how to get there and I did it! Impressive what you can remember when you try really hard. You have to remember that I have been gone for 40 years this year and my family left PA for NJ 10 years ago so I had to dig deep!
We passed a lot of biker's going back to PA as we headed to the "shore". Debbie and I watched for you Dave but didn't see a Spyder at all but we did see 5 wild turkeys on the side of the road. We quickly unloaded the car and met my sister and brother in law and headed to my mom's. She was excited that we were there. Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches from PA but the excitement wore mom out. We left and came back to the condo and unpacked, had some wine and crashed. Yeah, we are here!
Glad you made it! I have turned off the voice to my GPS - she was just too annoying, always telling me to turn around...blah blah.
