Stonehenge/Foamhenge

We got a later start this morning than we had planned but had a pretty drive through the mountains of West Virginia into Virginia.  Three hours or so later we were in Natural Bridge Virginia exploring Foamhenge.  Debbie and I decided that strange people have settled in that area as you will see from the photos we took.  It was quite the collection of "attractions".  We pulled into Foamhenge and there were two other vehicles there...no admission just climb the hill at your own risk.  It was ghastly hot and very buggy up there but I have to say the view was beautiful and because it was hazy, the pictures don't do it justice.  Debbie has been to Stonehenge and she said it is remarkably like the one in England.  When I was in England we didn't go there but opted to see the London sights instead so I have nothing to compare it to but rather thought it was quite amusing that someone would take the time and money to do this.  After leaving there we headed on to Winchester, Virginia and stopped at an Amish market but it was more like a flea market so we didn't buy anything.  We have had dinner and we are having some wine and unwinding.  Debbie is trying to figure out how to use her new camera and I am writing the blog.  Tomorrow we have a little over a two hour drive to my nephew's house in Elkton, Maryland to visit with the kids for a bit and then another two hours from there to Sea Isle City, New Jersey where we will set up the homestead for the next two or so weeks and spend the days with my mom.  Enjoy the photos...

  1. Well I guess I can eventually die happy now that I have seen Foamhenge. To think originally I thought the fork in the road would be the pictorial highlight. LOL!!
Glad you two are having fun. Have fun in Elkton and good luck in Sea Isle I did get to wildwood today. Almost 150 miles on the Spyder. Hot but fun!,

  2. Vacations are meant for late starts. Try to take your time and enjoy the travels, but I know you are eager to visit with your family. Thanks for including a photo of you - I know you usually get Debbie in there, but we like to see you having fun too!

Carol, we weren't too late but we did spend a full day again on the road today but will explain it all tomorrow after some rest. We did make it.
