We were up and on the road early this morning..by 8 AM and our first stop was Paris.  I have been to Paris, France and this does not compare but in one way...it does have an Eiffel Tower!  Yep, here are the pictures to prove it.  We could not stop laughing but first we had to get there and after two different sets of directions from native Parisians, we found it.  Last Tango in Paris...

We got back on track and stopped laughing and headed on to our next milestone which was Clarksville..Take the last train to Clarksville and I'll meet you at the station...we couldn't find the station but did see a freight train before Clarksville so that will have to do.  There is a very, very large military base there that goes on for miles which is Fort Campbell which is home to the 101st Airborne.  Since there were so many military things around it made us think after crossing the Kentucky border that we should find out where Fort Knox is!

We stopped at a Rest Stop and got some info and headed off to find the gold!  We got there but it appeared they didn't want to show us the gold and would rather shoot us first.  We did however take lots of pictures of it and I must say the US stash seems to be well protected and we can all rest easy.  Even the fences had several fences with barbed wire.  We can at least say we have been there.  After that it was an uneventful drive to our hotel in Huntington, WV where we are spending the night...long but uneventful.  I was reading Debbie the brochures we picked up at the rest stop and our second hysterical laugh of the day was explaining to her that there were monks at one of these places.  She didn't understand what I said and instead of telling her it was a monestary I told her it was a monkuary but  that was not same as a mortuary.  That is now the new name for a monestary...a monkuary. We got to see some beautiful horse farms along the way near Lexington.  Tomorrow is our stop at Natural Bridge, Virginia and Foamhenge.  I am very tired now as Debbie made me watch her do donuts in the parking lot tonight until she needed new tires.  The fun with us is never ending....

  2. I can't believe they wouldn't let you near the gold!? Well, maybe they know you. I guess it's not like they had a drive-thru window or anything.
